The Castellani Lab is a human molecular genetics and computational genomics lab conducting research on the genetic and epigenetic determinants of complex disease with a focus on cardiovascular outcomes. The lab is particularly interested in environmental and mitochondrial changes to nuclear epigenetic programming and their effects on human disease. Our research activities intersect bioinformatics analysis, cell-culture modelling, and statistical genomics to assess the contribution of variation in mitochondrial DNA quality and quantity to nuclear multiomics in disease.
